The narrative writing assignment was extremely fun to write. I love creating scenes in my head so being able to write it all out was exciting. I normally do not do this sort of writing, but it was a lot more satisfying than I had thought. Telling stories through a creative perspective allows not only the reader to take a journey into someone else’s mind, but it also allows the writer to learn something new about himself/herself.

The advertising writing assignment was surprisingly easy for me to comprehend. It had multiple parts to it, but they did not trip me up as much as I would have thought. I did however, have some trouble with the indirect/direct competitors sections. I did not quite understand what it was asking when I first started writing everything out.

This assignment was a little more complicated for me even though it was short. I had never written a news release before so there were a few challenges that popped up. I did not necessarily understand how to address the release because I did not see it as a letter to someone, more as a letter for the person writing it.

I’m not normally a journalist type of writer so this assignment made it a little difficult. Interviewing two different people was not all that bad, but I am also not a people person. I had to find ways to address the main topic at hand without straying too far off because I was nervous. The overall writing made me more aware to ask the hard hitting questions and focus more on the story rather than my own opinions.

This was the first assignment given in this class. It was not as challenging as I thought it was going to be, but it definitely helped me with the preparation of applying for internships and jobs. My resume was originally two pages long which seemed a little excessive, so I tried shortening it up a bit to make it only one. It took a lesser amount of time deleting topics than it did to write them so I found that reassuring.
